Repairs:

Finding the Leak:

For detecting the leak, we recommend a method we call “Look, listen, feel.

  • Prepare a spray bottle with water and some dish detergent (enough to make some "suds"). Inflate your air mattress. 
  • Spray the air mattress or use a sponge and wipe down the entire surface. Be careful to avoid any electrical or non-water friendly items in the work area.
  • Sit on top of the mattress. Look, listen, feel, and focus on the seams
  • Flip it over, sit on the bottom of the mattress. Look, listen, feel, and focus on the seams again. If you can't identify the hole on the top or the bottom, examine the sides, focusing on the seams.
  • Move slowly and apply pressure as you go to force air towards the area you’re working on. Watch closely for any bubbles, as they indicate the leaking air. Voila! You may have found your leak!
  • If you find the leak, use a colored tape and let "X" save the spot. (Do not use a pen or marker or you could permanently stain the fabric.)

Repairing the leak:

We have 3 recommendations depending on the location of the leak: Patch kit, PVC glue and Flex Tape.  

Patch Kit:

We provide a patch kit with our air mattresses.  These are great for most situations. You will find them in the small, clear, zip lock bag that came with the original box. If you've misplaced them, any vinyl patches at your local hardware will do the trick. There is no specific brand or type we recommend and Amazon has many options.

  • Identify the hole, deflate the mattress and cover the hole with the patch kit.  
  • Apply pressure for 2 minutes to ensure the patch sticks to the air mattress. 
  • Wait about 4 hours for the patch to set. 

For seam tears or the top "flocking" material, PVC glue or Flex Tape do the job a lot better. 

PVC glue:

The patch kit does not work particularly well on the top of the mattress because the material is flocked for comfort. It also doesn’t work great on the seams or around the motor. 

For those spots, we recommend PVC glue. Loctite or Goop are two brands we recommend and they are about $5- $6 at most hardware stores and Amazon. 

  • Fully deflate the mattress. 
  • Note: follow each brand's specific instructions.
  • Apply a little bit of glue over the puncture, It takes about 45 seconds until the glue hardens,
  • Let it sit. It takes approximately two hours to set or cure and then inflate. 
  • Once it inflates, apply a little more PVC glue as the material does stretch.

Flex Tape:

Lastly, Flex TapeFlex Paste, or Flex Glue has worked with many customers. All three products can be used on PVC air mattresses. 

They can be found on Amazon and at most hardware stores.

  • Identify the hole, deflate the mattress and cover the hole with the Tape, Paste, or Glue. 
  • If using the Tape, apply pressure to ensure the tape sticks to the air mattress. 
  • Wait about 2 hours for the seal to set.

You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning the item. Shipping costs are non-refundable.

When sending back an item, you should use a trackable shipping service and purchase shipping insurance as we can not guarantee that we will receive your returned item.

Once your eligible return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item, and we will begin the process of refunding your purchase on your original method of payment within 10 business days.

If you haven’t received a refund yet, first check your bank account. Then contact your credit card company, it may take some time before your refund is officially posted. Next contact your bank. There is often some processing time before a refund is posted.

Amazon has a hassle-free 30 day return policy for products purchased on Amazon.com. Unfortunately we cannot manually process your return or refund for an Amazon purchase, you must contact Amazon customer support at 1-866-216-1072.

If 30 days have passed since your Amazon purchase, unfortunately returns & refunds are unavailable. However, all products purchased from SoundAsleep Products on Amazon.com are covered under our Limited 1-Year Warranty, which covers manufacturer's defects that manifest during the first year after purchase. Punctures and holes from use are not covered. Our Limited 1-Year Warranty does not apply to products purchased from Amazon sellers other than SoundAsleep Products including Amazon Warehouse Deals.
